As an anthropologist who knows something about anthrocentrism and ethnocentrism, it is interesting seeing “modern” Christians using an ancient Egyptian religious belief that the human heart is more important than the human brain (which was discarded during embalming).
I’ve always been pro-life, but I think you’ve convinced me.
Overpopulation is not talked about enough and is clearly an all encompassing issue for climate crisis. This issue is more important to me than my personal views on abortion.
Also, I like your moderate response that you’re not advocating for abortion as an alternative to modern contraception.
I am in agreement with you, and thanks for writing about this. But I would want to stress two important issues.
First, while by no means wanting to cheer in an absolute sense for more abortions, I have no doubt you agree that we should by all means fight and cheer for greater accessibility to safe pregnancy termination, especially in this nearly post-Roe era of social devolution.
Second, and with regard to what not uncommonly creates the conditions for unwanted and dangerous pregnancies, we should highlight the critical need to expose and punish domestic control of and violence toward women by men. I use the term "dangerous" pregnancy because unwanted pregnancy is a potentially dangerous condition when the means to terminate it are inaccessible, leaving a woman with no choice but to engage in unsafe termination and/or to experience the stress of carrying an unwanted/unneeded fetus that puts her at risk of depression, severe anxiety or even suicide or neonatal abandonment or murder.
Yes indeed.

Science v. Religion

Well written and well said, Tony.
