Anthropology has a pretty simple scientific explanation. Population pressures (aka overpopulation) produces competition among humans, and it produces competition between humans and Nature. From “Children of the Forests”, to “Masters of the Universe”.
Excellent article. The mainstream media rarely reports on anything other than humans and occasionally their pet I scour media reports for non human related deaths and injuries but can find nothing
Those deaths and injuries are accepted matter of factly. Unavoidable casualties of the Anthropocene, nothing new, nothing to report. Stories do occasionally appear, not out of any principled concern, but rather for their sharp emotional, usually shock, value.
Published nearly a year ago. Matters have unfortunately gotten worse. SO THOROUGHLY homocentric, one would think that our civilization would stop people from slaughtering other humans and instead focus on its war against nature.
But NO! As we ready to celebrate the year of our lord 2024, it has proven once again that it can vigorously walk and chew gum at the same time. There are plenty of devastating fireworks to go around.
Please excuse my rude moment of cynicism. Who dare question our world leaders, especially that handful from nations I need not mention?

It's amazing how many people don't get it. Intra- and interspecific competition are fundamental to biology. And population density does matter.

Thanks, Vero. Humanity has gone awry in many ways. It's important to have that broader discussion.
